For the emblem to be effectively used and respected, the emblem had to be the same everywhere and known to all. Nevertheless throughout the course of the history, the universality of the emblem has eroded and recently we have come to see three different symbols, namely, the red cross, the red crescent and the red crystal. Why has such a situation come to exist?
